Palliative Care

Palliative Care

Palliative Care is specialized medical care that focuses on providing relief from pain and other symptoms of a serious illness. It can also help you cope with side effects from medical treatments. The goal of palliative care is to improve the quality of life of both the person with the disease and their caregivers. The availability of palliative care does not depend on whether your condition can be cured.

Palliative care would be appropriate for cancer, heart disease, dementia, Parkinson’s, chronic lung disease, stroke and many other serious illnesses.

It is not surprising that depression often accompanies a serious illness. It’s virtually impossible to be happy when you’re not only in physical pain, but you’re in emotional pain as well. The loss of privacy, dignity and control is overwhelming. And you worry about being a burden to your family. This is where SoSoak can help.

The chair is sturdy and will cradle them, discouraging falls while they soak and wash themselves in private. SoSoak also makes it possible for the caregiver to assist if they can’t shower by themselves. They can still be assisted but still offered a sponge so they can wash what they can.

The chair can help them through this very difficult time: maintaining good hygiene, skin integrity, pain control, assistance with side effects from treatment, and maintaining privacy, dignity and self esteem is critical in staving off a depressive disorder.

Happy Soaking!
